We Are In This Together
Today we celebrated Resurrection Sunday, however, it looked a lot different than Easters in the past. The church buildings were closed, Easter egg hunts were canceled and large family gatherings discouraged. Although we are all in different cities, states and countries, we are in this together.
The Bible says that we are made in the image of God. God came down to earth as a man through Jesus Christ. Here, He was made to be an example of how we should live. Everything He did was so that we could learn how to behave in the good, bad and ugly situations.
I think it’s safe to say that the world is now faced with the ugly. This plague has brought every man, woman, boy, and girl to be confined as much as possible to their household. Fear is spreading rapidly and uncertainty looms ahead. However, Jesus has commanded us all not to be afraid.
See, every emotion we can feel here on earth, Jesus also experienced. Because He was without sin, His life is a model of how we all can face what life brings and remain grounded in the Word. We can look at the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as a symbolism of the fact that we are all in this together. God sacrificed the life of His Son so that all may be forgiven.
We Are In This Together
Actually, everything Jesus did was for all humankind. He died so that we all could live. He arose so that He could live inside of us. Just as the grave could not hold Him down, trust that He will not allow a plague to hold us down as well. Bills may be piling up and you could feel buried under depression and anxiety, but take heart in knowing that Jesus has already paid our debt. Therefore we will reap a reward if we faint not.
So as we go through the days ahead, let us remember that we’re all in this together. Nothing separates us; not race, social status, or financial abilities. Jesus died and got up for all. The best thing we can do at this time is to show love and compassion to others. This was one of the greatest examples in which Jesus modeled on earth.
It Takes Community
Let us work together to come out of this better than we went in. It takes us all working together by doing our parts individually to get to the other side. Though we may be isolated from each other, we are not alone. We are in this together.
