A Fool

Have you ever done something that you later regretted doing?  I mean, at the time it seemed like fun and it brought some type of satisfaction to you. That euphoric feeling may even last for some time. However, at some point, the fog will lift and you are faced with something that you may no longer find appealing. Having to face the consequences of your actions, do you feel like a fool or are you burdened with guilt and shame? Perhaps it is a combination, but one thing is for sure:

You can’t undo what’s already been done.

When it comes to marriage, a husband has been given many responsibilities. Of all that God calls him to do, outside of loving God, he is to love his wife. Though this sounds pretty easy to do, unfortunately, respecting your wife and the marriage bed has become optional for some men. This lack of self-control creates an undisciplined man that will easily fall prey to the devil.

How do you expect to play with fire and not get burned?

It is the objective of the enemy to tear apart families by making you believe the lie that the grass is greener in someone else’s yard. However, what he hides from you is that the grass is artificial. There was no work put into it. It doesn’t require water, fertilizer nor mowing. The trick of the enemy is to convince a husband that all the upkeep is unnecessary and a simple life must be better. Sad to say, but this scheme actually works on some men until they remember that anything that is artificial is fake.

Remember everything sweet is not sugar.

When marriage was created by God, His intent was for one man to have one wife, not a wife and a chick on the side. He created man and did not see fit for him to be alone so He designed woman from his rib to be his helper, and the man chose her for his wife. Husbands, do you realize that your wife is your good thing and how you obtain favor from God? Mistreating her in any way will hinder your prayers from being heard by Him.

Only a fool will drink poison and expect their life not to be affected. God will always give you a way of escape from temptation but when you chose to ignore His warnings, you will not only lose your honor but will face shame and disgrace. Most importantly, you show that you don’t love yourself.

In spite of your failure, God still loves you.

So for the husbands who have fallen short and broken the covenant between God and their wife, you are not out of God’s reach. He is waiting for you to repent and turn from your wayward ways. Even if you lost your good thing as a consequence, you haven’t lost your heavenly Father. He will forgive you of your sins and remember them no more. God will create in you a new creature and allow the old things to pass away. You no longer have to be held captive to your sins when you decide to walk away from that which held you bound. He can restore your soul, remove your shame and lead you to the path of righteousness. Just surrender yourself to God and watch Him make you the man He created you to be.

In Relentless Pursuit,

“But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys himself. He will be wounded and disgraced. His shame will never be erased.” – Proverbs 6:31-32 NLT
