Don’t Give Up
Have you ever set a goal or felt in your heart that God called you to accomplish something. You start off on fire and excited for what you think the end result would be for you. Some time goes by and that passion that once excited you now seems to have cooled off tremendously. What do you do when that happens? Well, I’m here to tell you don’t give up.
Today actually marks two years since I started this blog. Although I have remained pretty consistent posting every week, I’d be lying if I said that I never wanted to give up. Are people reading it? Am I helping anyone who reads it?
Though I’ve thought about stopping, I just could never get myself to do it. I’d remember that this was not my desire but a desire God placed in me. I don’t know why He would want me to continue but I just look at it like this; it’s not my business it’s God’s. He knows the plans He has for my life, I’m just not privy to the details.
Honestly, my personality is naturally comfortable remaining in the background. Sometimes God will put something on your heart to do that you want to fight against. However, the Holy Spirit that lives within you won’t let you shake it.
Do you know that feeling?
For example, it’s taking you longer than normal to finish your degree because you can only take one or two classes a semester. You try to convince yourself that you should just stop but something in your gut says don’t give up.
Maybe you are trying to get out of debt but you keep getting set back. An unexpected bill shows up, your car needs repair, or your child has to take a trip to the emergency room. It feels like something always comes up when you striving to make progress so why even try.
Don’t Give Up
I know that feeling too well. You just want to throw your hands up and say forget it (or you might even have a more colorful language to use)! What’s the point of putting forth so much effort just to be knocked back further than where you started.
Though it may not feel like it, God is doing a work in you. So when you want to give up but just can’t get yourself to do so, it’s because God still has to bring it to completion.
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6
So you and your spouse are unequally yoked. The more you grow in Christ the further away you seem to grow from them. You consider leaving but God hasn’t given you peace to be released. That’s Him telling you, “Don’t give up on your marriage”. He’s still working on it, He just needs you to let Him.
I get it. Sometimes it gets tiring trying to do the right thing, be the bigger person, and walking the straight and narrow way. But Galatians 6:9 encourages us to not grow weary when doing good b/c God has already set a time to bless you for not giving up.
A part of being a Christian is doing unpopular things. That may look like people turning their back on you because you made a decision to change your life for the better. You don’t talk like you use to or hang around the same crowd. It could also be that you’re giving this “God” thing a try but you don’t see the change you want to see when you expect it.
Don’t Give Up
I don’t know where you are in life right now. Someone may have walked out on you. Parents might have given up on you. Your employer could’ve made the decision that they no longer need you. Being in quarantine for months may be messing with your mental state. With so much idle time, the enemy might suggest that you are not essential to this world but I’m here to tell you that these are Lies!
Whether you believe it or not, God has chosen you to be a part of His family. You are essential and needed in this world for a purpose that God has set. The fact that you still have breath in your lungs proves that you have a purpose here. Hang in there. Though you might not see it right now, trouble won’t last always.
I understand what it’s like to be in a dark place. Nothing seems o be going right and you feel all alone. As 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast our cares on God.
If you feel that no one cares for you, know that God does. Not only that but He loves you with an everlasting love and nothing can separate you from it. So in spite of what you may be feeling. Regardless of the actions of others, don’t give up!
Don’t give up on your dream
Most importantly, don’t give up on you!

As I celebrate reaching this 2-year mark and not giving up on what I started, I want to encourage you not to give up as well. If you plan on committing to the process you have to go through, type in the comments “ I won’t give up”.
